Back at the gym from double rest days. School started for my child, which means I’m going to have to shake up my workout routine to accommodate school drop off and pick up. Unfortunately I don’t have a big block of time to complete my training in one session, so I have to break it up into two sessions throughout the day . . This morning I did my main strength training lifts (warmup included) then 10 minutes on the elliptical . . 1️⃣ Squats 205lbs 4x4 2️⃣ Deadlift 225lbs 5x5 . . Throw a few more pounds on! Leg day is my favorite day - did some band work to warm up (band walks and donkey kicks), heavy squats and deadlifts, then lightened up for some glute bridges and calf raises. Almost a solid hour of focused leg work. Just me, my thoughts, the iron, and my music. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Speaking of thoughts.... what do you think about when you lift? Is your mind wandering? Are you thinking about your next exercise? Or maybe you’re concerned with the people around you? WRONG! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Your mind must be in the game just as much as your body. Before I take off for my deadlift I think about my lats, my scapula, and my glutes . I focus on the tempo of my concentric movement, squeezing the glutes and scapula at the top, and controlling the eccentric portion. Same with the squat. Don’t only visualize the glutes working at the top of the movement. You must recruit them the WHOLE time. From the moment you reach your desired depth at the bottom you want to explode back up with purpose! Bracing your core like a superhero shield the whole time👊🏼💪🏼🔥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve had days where mid set I tell myself how hard it is or think about fear and pain and mannn did it mess everything up. FORGET THAT NONSENSE! Your mind is so powerful. Focus on the task at hand and you will be amazed by the improvements in your muscle awareness, strength, and movement patterns. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ NOW GO LIFT SOMETHING HEAVY!

Another great leg workout today with my buddy Preston and Kenny . And after 4 weeks of squatting . I finally able to break my 2 reps max ! My buddy Preston said that I could’ve went for another one . But after that third reps I was already celebrating in my head for being so excited about breaking that 2 reps mark , I dint even think about trying to go for another one lol ! As long as I’m making progress that’s all it matter . I have said it before and I will say it again and again- you don’t have to restrict yourself to live a healthy life. — Of course I don’t think that anyone should eat terrible food all of the time. However, it is just as unhealthy to restrict yourself from eating unhealthy foods that you crave because you just end up eating more of things you don’t want. Eating any food in surplus is unhealthy. Sure, eating a surplus of grapes isn’t as bad as eating a surplus of ice cream, but it is still unhealthy (so if you want ice cream, then just eat that instead of eating the whole bag of grapes) — My biggest goal with nutrition and fitness is to be able to live balanced and have a good relationship with food. So, I will never restrict myself from eating food that I want. — Tonight I hung out with my best friends to watch the Bachelorette finale and we ate cookies and ice cream. Did I regret it? Did I starve myself all day to be able to eat it? Did I workout extra long? Absolutely not. In fact, I got seconds (and my first bowl was far from small). — I did everything today the same as I would on any other day. Tomorrow, I will do the same. Living a healthy lifestyle is about finding your consistency and balance but also being able to live and enjoy moments (and incredibly unhealthy meals) with your friends.
