Happy Sunday 😊 Theme of the week   @npschoolofyoga   was Lotus 🧘🏻‍♀️ working on opening the hips and internal rotation of the arm to bind the foot on the other side. 26 Days of Hot 26 // Day 3 3. Pada Hastasana / Hands to Feet Pose I always thought this was simple, but now breaking it down to be able to teach and instruct the pose, and having been away from my practice for awhile, I've noticed a few things. What to take note of? . - If your hamstrings are tight, like mine (and it became worse with lack of practice), it is going to be tough. But yet at the same time, you have a thirst to go deeply into the pose. Don't rush into it and into what everyone else is doing! Patience. . - Keep your knees bent first, and bring your torso close to your legs. Get your hands into position - stepping on all 10 fingers incl thumbs. All glued together. Then, slowly straighten your legs. Stop when you feel your torso disconnecting from your legs. . - The main goal here is to stretch and stimulate your muscles, nerves, et al. You are reaping the benefits through your range of movements! . - (For teachers) Your students can't see you in this pose, and the instructions are absolutely critical. It's a good pose to practice nailing down cues, since it's relatively easier to instruct and achieve this pose. - Photos really help you to spot and revise your own alignment. . **My intention from this series is not to perfectly model the 26 poses by any means! It's for us to learn together :) ** . // . Maintaining any form of practice whilst travelling is tough. Even tougher when your travel is frequent; if it's just for a week, it may not be catastrophic to miss your practice for a week. But if it's for multiple weeks at a time, or every few weeks, you end up missing more time on the mat than actually having time on the mat. Today, I managed to find time to do this in the room - because it isn't too appropriate to be taking your shoes off for this pose in the streets. I've been away from the mat proper for way too long - strength has waned, weight has gained, and I'm actually really looking forward to being back on the mat (..before I jet off again in ~2.5 weeks). . Tomorrow, I'll be on the plane. But I will still be awkwardly doing the Awkward pose :)   #commitment     #discipline
