How lovely you are. Peaceful, friendly, a small country in recovery.
Arrived at the dead posh Serena hotel in the middle of the night, shower, bed. A mixture of nervousness and knackeredness meant I didn't wander and waited by the pool for Bethan and her uncle Richard and aunt Vivienne to arrive.
Arrive they did and Beth and I had a good old catch up. She'd just been to the Nyege Nyege (sexy sexy) music festival in Kampala, Uganda and was doing remarkably well considering the amount of Indonesian Death Gabba music she'd experienced. Not for the faint hearted.
Tuesday morning brings an amazing breakfast and a briefing from Sam Elliott, our guide for our time in Rwanda. Excited doesn't really cover it but I manage to keep the squealing to a minimum.
Kigali, the capital, is a city that runs on motorbikes. There are thousands of them. They provide a cheap taxi service and work for many of the young people here.
They call Rwanda the land of a thousand hills. Puts Devon to shame slightly. You can see Mount Kigali in the background and hopefully understand it's name - kigali means wide. The weather is beautiful.
