I remember when Snoop Dogg dropped his first album. He was actually Snoop Doggy Dogg and I was 12 years old. It’s crazy to even consider how much time has passed along with even more album drops and memories. I mean, he’s a grandad now. and I’m....well, never mind all that 😂😂😂
He just released his 16th album, and it’s called, “I Wanna Thank Me”, an extension of his Hollywood Walk of Fame speech where he thanked everyone that had a hand in his career and concluded by thanking himself. Ha! Imagine that. Does that sound weird to you? Conceited? Self indulgent? Maybe to someone, but I want to offer that it’s super smart and shows just how #selfaware he is or, as he shows in his project, has become.
It’s not at all selfish or arrogant to consider the idea of thanking yourself. It’s real. And it’s necessary. Sometimes we spend so much of our lives trying to gain the favor or approval of others, or be there when someone needs us, that we forget (or negate) the fact that we are the ones out here making it happen day to day and often providing the lifestyle and opportunities those around us may not see otherwise. That deserves recognition. And I’m willing to bet that if you don’t clap for yourself, there really aren’t a lot of people clapping for you. But, that’s not why you do it anyway. So yes, be like Uncle Snoop and thank yourself. I’m definitely thanking ME.
What are some amazing things about YOU that you want to thank yourself for? You deserve it. Go ahead and sound off in the comments below.
