THE YOGA WORLD NEEDS A CHANGE 🕉
here in Bali i had a lot of time to digest and reflect everything concerning the sexual abuse topic in the ashtanga world, which came last year to the surface. .
the more i've read and listened, the more my doubts about the effect of this practice were growing. also everytime i saw the picture of "the guru", who is responsible for the sexual misconduct, on an altar in yoga shalas, i got a strange feeling in my stomach. i secretly thought about quitting the practice and the community.
but somehow i came to the conclusion that quitting is no solution, because if you want to change something, you have to be part of the change and for this it's necessary to speak up 🌌
i don't know in which way i'm gonna share yoga in the future, but what i know is that i will share it as a non-dogmatic, self-empowering, sustainable, healing-practice..i won't blindly follow a guru, or a system, without questioning some things. one rule may not suit to everybody, so sometimes we need to be flexible in our way of thinking, there is not just one way. ⭐
yoga should serve us and we shouldn't practice to punish ourselves.
so if somebody practices ashtanga 2 instead of 6 days a week, meditates every day and feels inner peace..that's amazing! although this may not be called "traditional". there is more than just Black and white 🌌🕉🌙
